On Tuesday afternoon the Rattlesnakes travelled to Edmonton County Power League to participate in two matches. In their first match, their opposition was Highfield.
Their line up was: Freddie (GK), Kevin, Jonathan, Zach, Alfie (Captain), Andrew, Alex, David, James and Raphael.
Raglan took the kick off and took the ascendancy straight away with some quick passing and crunching challenges. However, against the run of play, Highfield’s number 8 scored a close range shot following an excellent counter attack. Raglan Sports News sources suggest it may have been an own goal by Alfie Hemington….. The Rattlesnakes didn’t let their heads drop and put Highland under a lot of pressure. Within 5 minutes of conceding Raglan won a free kick on the edge of the area, Alfie’s drive only skimmed the bar. Moments later the Highfield keeper makes a mistake and passes the ball straight to James Codling, who makes no mistake and slots the ball home. 1-1! The Rattlesnakes were looking like the best team so far with Alex Penn running rings around the Highland defence. Shortly after the equaliser, Raglan are awarded a penalty for handball and captain, Alfie, makes no mistake from the spot. The Rattlesnakes continued to control possession and were rewarded with another two goals from Alfie and David.
The halftime score was 4-1 to The Raglan Rattlesnakes. Mr Bonner and Mr Flett told the boys to keep up the good work.
Highfield started off the second half better than the first half but couldn’t get past the strong defence of Kevin and Jonathon. The Rattlesnakes were keeping up their good work and looking the most likely team to score again. As the match came to a close David played a lovely cross into the box for Alex to shoot and score to secure a fantastic 5-1 victory.
Jonathan was awarded man of the match for some great defending and fantastic passes.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Rattlesnakes travelled to the Edmonton Power League to face up against Churchfield Primary School in a thrilling game of football. Having won their previous two games against Firs Farm and Highfield, they had their minds set on keeping up their winning streak.
Churchfield had kick off after making a mistake, Zach recovered by making a brilliant interception and with some great passes the Rattlesnakes were in on goal. Alfie with the shot, powering past the goalkeeper and rattling the crossbar. Soon after the boys had a breakthrough, Alex with the pass to Andrew, who dribbled through the defense like they weren’t even there. And to finish it off, his shot went straight into the top corner to make it one nil to Raglan. Our sources have suggested it may have been intended as a cross…..
Churchfield won a free kick straight from kick off just outside the Rattlesnakes penalty area. Number seven went up to take it and his blistering drive was expertly deflected wide by Jonathon. With the corner taken and an opportunity missed, Freddie in the Rattlesnakes goal took played pinpoint pass to Raphael who plays the ball to David who delivers a cross in for James, and he finishes it to make it two nil to the Rattlesnakes. Just as the boys were growing confident of going in at the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead, one of the Churchfield midfielders took a wonder strike from the halfway line, leaving Freddie no chance as the ball flew into the top corner. 2-1 at half time. Churchfield were right back in the game.
The Rattlesnakes began the second half well, Kevin proving to be an impenetrable wall in defence. Inside the first five minutes, Kevin cleared the ball to Alex who made a good first touch, turned in and out until one of their defenders brought him down for a free kick in a dangerous position. Alfie stepped up and took a powerful shot, but the Churchfield keeper made a great save. Soon after, Raphael made an excellent interception and laid it off to Alex, who finished it far corner to make it 3-1. With five minutes remaining James’ constant harassing of the Churchfield defence paid off as he tackled the last defender and laid the ball of for Raphael continue his fine scoring streak to score his fourth goal in three games. In the dying moments Alex added a fifth to making it 5-1 to the Raglan Rattlesnakes. A top performance from the boys.
