The Ravens make a sensational start to their league campaign.

Their first opponents were the footballers from Eversley.  After a tight opening five minutes, the Ravens won a free kick on the halfway line.  Fionn stepped up and scored a wonder goal that flew into the top corner, with even the Eversley manager saying it was one the best goals he’d ever seen.  Eversley came at the Ravens after the goal forcing some last ditch tackles from Liam and Ephrem and some top saves from Archie between the sticks.   Just before half time Fionn scored his second following an excellent counter attacking move. 2-0 to Raglan.  Unfortunately, just before half time, Eversley managed to poach a goal back to make it 2-1 at half time.

Eversley started the second half very strongly and continued to put pressure on the Ravens’ goal.   Archie continued to pull off some fantastic saves to keep Raglan in the lead.  Just as Eversley were looking like they were going to get back on level terms, another excellent piece of counter attacking football allowed Christian to expertly finish into the bottom corner. The game finished 3-1 to the Ravens who were rightly proud of their performance.

In their second match, the Ravens came up against Bush Hill Park.  The Ravens captain, Raphael, made a number of excellent tackles at the start of the game to show Bush Hill Park that the Ravens meant business.  The Ravens players followed their captain’s example and prevented Bush Hill Park having any possession for the opening 10 minutes.  Fionn attempted to replicate his previous efforts with another free kick, but his shot went just wide of the post. With the first half almost up,  Joseph made a great pass down the line, to Christian who dribbled past two defenders and smashed the ball into the bottom corner making it 1-0 to the Ravens.  Bush Hill Park seemed to wake up after the goal and forced Raglan onto the defense.   Some excellent defending from Alfie and great saves from Joseph kept the Ravens in the lead at the half time whistle.

At the start of the second half it was all Raglan.  Raphael came close with a placed effort that the keeper saved.  Then Christian intercepted a misplaced pass from a Bush Hill Park defender and slotted the ball past the keeper to consolidate the Ravens’ lead.  Two minutes late, Christian became the provider by laying the ball of to Fionn who’s shot nestled into the bottom corner.  3-0 to the Ravens!   The passing was beautiful from Raglan who dominated possession for the rest of the half to send the Ravens top of the league after their first two games.
