The Christmas Fair was a great success again this year and along with the hamper draw raised around £8,000. This is an amazing achievement and our thanks go to everyone who contributed. The hamper draw was completed on Monday and all 65 lucky winners have been contacted.
The fair couldn’t happen without a dedicated group from the RSA supported by volunteers and staff who helped set up, including some 6 hours on the new Christmas Grotto. Thank you to those who ran the various games, activities and stalls and those who helped clear it all away so we were ready to open again on Monday. We are an amazing school community when it all comes together.
Mrs Naik, our dedicated IT technician is retiring this month after 25 years at Raglan. We can’t thank her enough for all her help and expertise over the years. We marked the occasion with a lovely tea party yesterday and there will be an opportunity for the children to say thank you in assemblies next week. We wish Ila well for the next chapter.
Mrs Drew, our Wrap Club Manager will be leaving us at the end of term as she moves on to a new role. A big thank you to her for all her hard work over the two years she has been with us, ensuring a good start to our new wrap-around care.
We welcome Navin Gya, who joins us an IT technician apprentice. Navin is a former pupil, so it is lovely to welcome him back as a member of staff.
Our Christmas performances are in full swing this week and next and it has been a delight to watch children perform at the Winter Concert, Reception Nativity, iGospel Concert and the first performances of a Midwife Crisis in Year 1 & 2. Well done to all the children and thank you to the staff for their hard work putting it all together. Thank you also to parents and carers for helping with costumes etc.
Raglan Wrap Club
As we approach the end of term I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who have supported Raglan Wrap Club. We understand that there have been some teething issues initially with the setup of the new booking system but thank you for your patience. The new system appears to be working well.
As always, the school will be closed for Christmas, so if you require a booking for next term please ensure that it is booked prior to the Christmas Holidays as emails will not be responded to until the 6th of January. If you have any queries please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Prior to the end of term, could you please ensure that all accounts are up to date as this may prevent you from making further bookings. Please remember that once a session is booked, it cannot be cancelled, unless it is related to a long term illness. This is set out in our terms and conditions.
As we are experiencing high volumes of bookings on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday please ensure that these are booked well in advance. Magic booking offers a service that allows you to book 24 hours in advance but on those days there may be no availability. No exceptions to the numbers can be made if the club is fully booked.
We will be selling Christmas Cuddlies on behalf of the Nightingale Hospice again this year. They are £2.00 each. Children can buy them from the office.
Once again we have many unnamed items in our lost property. If your child is missing something please ensure you/they look for it before the end of term. Any items not collected will be given to charity.
Please can you ensure that your child’s School Dinner Parentpay account is in credit. It is very time consuming to keep calling parents who are in debt and it wastes money that could be spent on the children.
Winter Concert Congratulations
Huge congratulations to all the musicians for working with enthusiasm in order to produce such a high standard in the winter concert last week. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening of high quality music making, resulting in an immense sense of achievement and enjoyment for everyone involved.
Thank you to the numerous staff who have helped prepare students for these performances and finally a thank you to all parents/carers for encouraging and supporting your children in their development as young musicians.
Congratulations and well done to the following musicians who have recently been successful in their instrumental exams:
Ada A passed Grade 2 Piano with Merit

Well done for your success.
If you would like your child's musical exam achievement to be mentioned in the weekly news, please email the details to Mrs Campaniello c/o The Music team email@example.com
Composer Challenge (KS2)
In KS2 Singing Assemblies, we have a monthly Composer challenge. For November the challenge was to ‘Research 5 films for which Hans Zimmer has composed the music’. Thank you and well done for all the commendable and innovative entries. After much deliberation the winners were:
Alana (Y3), Shayna (Y4), Elif (Y5), Anna-Maria, Chloe and Yeliz (Y5)
This is such a worthwhile activity in which to participate, so please encourage your child to take part in the next challenge in the New Year.
