School Visits and Visitors to School
We have a range of exciting and engaging visits each year where there is a clear link to the curriculum. We choose trips and visitors that will enhance the curriculum and provide something we are unable to provide ourselves at school. Please see our yearly Educational Visits overview.
Unfortunately this comes at a cost beyond what our school budget can provide. We do rely on voluntary contributions from parents in order for these trips to take place. We have a Charging Policy that sets out this in more detail. If you are in receipt of Free School Meals there is financial support for all visits. We currently have a residential visit in Year 6 at the start of the year. The visit to PGL in Bawdsey Manor in Suffolk is an outdoor adventure centre and provides a range of activities including climbing, abseiling, raft building, zip wire, problem solving, low ropes and a challenge course. The children stay for 4 days and 3 nights over a long weekend.
We also organise a Sports Tour to Cardiff for our Year 6 pupils, who are actively involved in our school sports teams. This is a two night stay, where pupils get the opportunity to play competitive sports against schools in Cardiff.
New to Raglan this year is a Year 4 residential visit to Celtic Harmony in Broxbourne. It is a one night stay in a roundhouse, where the children will be rediscovering the natural world and traditions of life in ancient Britain through creative hands-on activities that engage the imagination and improve wellbeing.
