Music at Raglan
We are fortunate to have two specialist music teachers who deliver music to all classes from Nursery- Year 6 on a weekly basis. In addition to the class lessons all pupils take part in weekly singing assemblies lead by our music specialists.

Meet the Music Team
Samantha is the Lead Practitioner for Music, a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) and a certified trainer for the Jolly Music Programme. She is also the Primary Music Representative on the Enfield Music Hub Advisory Board. Samantha is responsible for the unique design of the music curriculum at Raglan Schools where every child in KS2 learns to play a musical instrument as part of their weekly music tuition and where the principles of Kodaly are embedded from the EYFS – every child is considered to be a developing musician.
Samantha is the Choral Director of The Raglan Schools Chamber Choir which has won the Mayor of Enfield’s Choral Award three times (2013, 2016, 2017 & 2018).
As an SLE Samantha regularly supports other schools in the borough, providing staff Insets, one-one support and mentoring/coaching, applying her specialist knowledge and expertise to improve the outcomes for children. Before taking up this post She worked for Newham Academy of Music in a variety of roles: Music Specialist, Advisory Teacher and CPD trainer for Secondary NQT Induction Programme. She has been a mentor for Trinity Guildhall/OU KS 2 CPD Programme (2007-2011) KS2 teacher trainer for The London Symphony Orchestra On Track programme (2008). She also has 10 years experience as a secondary Music Head of Department.
Samantha has also devised a Music Transition Passport to provide information to secondary music teachers about the musical achievements, experiences and aspirations of Raglan children transitioning to Year 7. The Passport, endorsed by Enfield Music Service is now used in Kent; the Swale, Dartford networks and also Hertfordshire.
Katherine is also a music specialist at Raglan. Before joining the Raglan team Katherine studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal College of Music and then went on to complete a PGCE at the Institute of Education. For the last seven years Katherine has been head of music and taught music across primary and secondary. She has also lead projects with Livemusicnow! in SEN schools across London.
In addition to teaching music, Katherine performs her trombone in the West End with her last show being Elf the Musical! She has also performed with the Philharmonia Brass Quintet, South Bank Sinfonia and the London Jazz Orchestra. Katherine is also a tutor for the brass academy that runs residential courses during the school holidays.
