Staff Members running the London 10k in July, along with 16 parents/carers.
Some children have amazingly completed their 10K virtual run by running 25 laps in just 8 days! Congratulations! They will soon be getting their medals. There are a handful of spare places, so if you missed the sign-up for your child, please visit the office.
The staff members running the London 10K in July were showing off the team t-shirts this week. They joined the children at the early morning Run for Raglan/Virtual 10K. They certainly won't be missed in their flo-yellow tops among the thousands of runners in central London on the 13th July. They will be joined by 16 parents and carers also running and fundraising.

We have reviewed the charges for next year, taking into account additional staffing costs, including pay increases and changes to national insurance contributions. Governors agreed on the changes, which involve increases of around 5%. From September 2025:
Raglan Wrap Club, breakfast session - £3.15
Raglan Wrap Club, short wrap session - £6.30
Raglan Wrap Club, long wrap - £11.55
Nursery fee (per hour) - £6.30
Clubs - £31.50
School Lunch (Nursery) - £2.65
Our Sports Days at split into three so we can manage the pupils and spectators. The Infants (YR, Y1, Y2) is an afternoon event and Year 3/4 is a whole day event. Please note you can attend any part of the day. Year 5/6 is held at the Athletics Centre at Lee Valley, which is a great experience.
Any parent/carer or family member attending must REGISTER on the links below. Further details on timings can also be found on the links below and we will be sending a more detailed letter soon.
We don't require children to wear branded items although many parents choose these options. Please see our uniform policy for more details.
A reminder that our uniform policy has changed and will be fully implemented from September 2025. This simplifies the uniform to a white polo shirt with a royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan.
The uniform page of our website sets out the policy and details shared last year.
You can buy uniform directly from us via the Arbor Shop on your app/portal or from 3 retailers which are linked on our uniform page. If you want to see or try any items you can visit the Raglan Road office between 2.30-3.30 on a Friday.
We have added new branded Active Uniform items to the school shop. This includes a PE t-shirt (£6) in the four house colours. We also have a royal blue hoodie (£11) for the colder weather.
We have tried to find good quality items for a good price to support parents/carers with the costs of the uniform.
In preparation for next year, we have some staffing announcements. Firstly, Mr Daniel Bonner has been appointed as Assistant Headteacher for the next academic year, he will lead across Years 3 and 4. Next year we will have two SEND leaders following the appointment of Mr Stewart Humphries as SENCo. Stewart has a wealth of experience in primary education and will work alongside Mrs Houlihan. Like most schools, we are seeing a significant rise in SEND within our mainstream schools. The number of children with EHC plans (Education, Health and Care Plans) has doubled in the last 5 years. We currently have 52 across the two schools.
Teaching teams will be finalised over the next few weeks with some new teachers and leading teachers starting in September. Year 1 and Year 4 pupils will also be placed in new classes and will have an extra transition morning to meet their new teacher and class. All pupils have a transition morning on 2nd July.
Year 6 have been challenged to set up their own pop-up mini business with a £30 budget. They have been working hard on planning and preparing for the big day. They will be selling products that they have made on Friday 13th June.
All classes will have the opportunity to buy a range of food, drinks and crafts. Allergy information is available to view on each group's website and will also be displayed on stalls. Class teachers will be aware of which children have allergies when visiting the stalls.
Class teachers will be sharing each group's website and advert this week - they are also available to view here
If you would like your child to take part, please send them to school on Friday with no more than £5
One of the stalls at this year's fair will be a jar tombola, which is one of the most popular stalls at the fair. However, we do need your help to populate this stall!
On Friday 13th June we will have a non-uniform day in return for a jar for the tombola. Please fill a clean jar with wrapped sweets or wrapped chocolates or new small toy(s) and send it in with your child on the day. Please remember No Nuts in anything.
If you want to make it more fun and creative, you can decorate the jar and make it stand out on the stall.
50 of our most sportingly engaged pupils travelled to Cardiff last week for a 3-day, 2-night sports tour where they enjoyed experiences with Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Cardiff Dragons Netball Club, Cardiff Rugby Club and Cardiff City Football Club. During the tour, our pupils also competed in competitive tournaments against Welsh primary schools. Plans are already underway for next year. You can watch Mrs Tungatt's fantastic highlights video below.
To find out more about future tours, including how pupils are selected to attend, parents can visit the Cardiff Sports Tour Page here
The appeal has raised over £5,700 so far, which is a great start. With more to come, this puts us on track for our target.
394 pupils have entered the Virtual 10k, which is a great response. The children are challenged to run 10,000m, which is 25 laps of Run for Raglan over the next 5 weeks.
Some children are also getting sponsored, which is amazing. You can get your supporters to donate directly to the Just Giving Page. They can also leave a message/shout-out to your child. Alternatively, you can collect sponsors separately offline and make one donation via the Just Giving Page. If you prefer cash then this can be dropped into the office.
Team Raglan is in training for the Saucony London 10k in July. 21 staff and parents are running the race and collecting sponsors for their efforts. If you see anyone training in a bright yellow Raglan t-shirt give them a cheer!
You may have seen on the school's Instagram that Mr Kelsey-Hatton has been active and ran the Brighton Ten (miles) as part of his running challenge, which is also raising money towards the library. You can visit that page on the link above.
Finally, preparations are being made for the School Fair on 27th June. As well as a range of stalls, activities and rides, there will be a programme of music and dance to keep us entertained.
Volunteers are still needed for this event, so please contact rsa@raglanschools.org if you can spare an hour (or more) on the day so we can run all of the stalls we plan to open.
Please remember to respect our neighbours and keep all our children safe by parking responsibly in the local area. This means
no parking on corners
no parking across the pavement
no stopping or parking on the zig zags or the zebra crossing or outside the school gates
no blocking the driveways of residents (even for a few minutes)
Should anyone wish to report illegal parking in the future NSL can be called direct on 020 3856 0036 (line available 24 hours for enforcement daily between 8am and 9pm). Alternatively, the Parking team here at the Council can be emailed at parking@enfield.gov.uk or called on 020 8379 6406 between 9am and midday Monday to Friday.
Our pop-up pool is back for the last half term which will offer lesssons to Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. It will also enable us to revisit some pupils in Year 5 who may require additional lessons to meet the expected standards. Lessons have started with 3DB, 3MF and 3LR this week who will have lessons every day for 8 days through an intensive swimming programme. We will notify you when it is your child's turn to have lessons.
With rising costs of swimming lessons and transport to the local leisure centre, this is an alternative option which doubles our capacity for teaching swimming.

If you are celebrating this coming weekend, we hope you have an enjoyable time with family and friends. If your child is going to be absent, please let us know via the Arbor app/portal.
If you plan to leave Raglan at the end of term, please let us know so we can make arrangements to fill any remaining spaces. This doesn't apply to Year 6 of course. Please get in touch with Mrs Street in the school office, who handles all admissions and leavers.
We have become a Little Wandle Champion School! This means our school has met the Little Wandle Standards of Excellence in the teaching of early reading and phonics. We will now be working closely with Little Wandle to share the wonderful work our staff and children are doing to support other schools. We are very proud to be part of this fantastic network of Champion Schools across the country.
Raglan remains open tomorrow. The parade has now been moved to 5.30pm, which helps, but there is expected to be significant disruption to transport networks in the Edmonton and Tottenham areas. Parents are asked to make adjustments to travel arrangements to collect on time so our own staff can leave work as expected. This is particularly key for parents who are collecting from clubs and Raglan Wrap Club.
It's not long now until the Raglan Summer Fair on the 27th June 3-6pm
One of the stalls at this year's fair will be a jar tombola, which is one of the most popular stalls at the fair. However, we do need your help to populate this stall!
On Friday 13th June we will have a non-uniform day in return for a jar for the tombola. Please fill a clean jar with wrapped sweets or wrapped chocolates or new small toy(s) and send it in with your child on the day. Please remember No Nuts in anything.
If you want to make it more fun and creative, you can decorate the jar and make it stand out on the stall.
The school council met with the catering managers from Aspens to discuss school lunches and the menus. The meeting was very useful and the children were very honest with their views. They discussed their favourite and less favourite dishes and Aspens took the opportunity to explain why they put vegetables in some of their dishes! The school is starting its third year with Aspens and the contract will be up for review next year so we are working with other schools to look at next steps.
It's great that children are active coming to school but please do not allow your child to scoot around the playgrounds. There are too many people to make this safe and we frequently have incidents and near misses. Thank you for your support with this.
A reminder to sign up your child if they want to enter the Virtual 10k in June and July. This starts on 2nd June after the break.
Over 120 children have already signed up, but there is still time to do so in the Arbor Shop.
This is aimed at Years R-6 who are challenged to run 25 laps (10,000m) across 6 weeks. They can take part at the Run for Raglan morning runs at 08:30 (KS2) and 11am (KS1). Reception will make their own time as part of their day. They will have a collector's card to get stamped for every lap they complete. When their card is full, they will get a medal presented in celebration assembly and collect three value points for Excellence, Determination and Inspiration. There is a charge of £3.50 to enter, which can be bought in the Arbor Shop.
Year 6 completed the Year 6 National Assessments this week, otherwise known as SATS. The children completed 6 papers over four days in Grammar, Spelling, Reading and Maths (3). They have been working really hard and hopefully their efforts will show some good results.
A reminder that there is a training day on Friday 20th June. Raglan Wrap Club will be open on this day from 08:30 to 16:30 and bookings can be made via Magic Booking. The cost for the day is £40. If you need any assistance then please contact wrap@raglanschools.org
Our fundraising for a new Library for Raglan has started well, with the total now passing £4,500. This has come from direct donations on our Just Giving Page and money raised at the recent children's discos.
Several events will support the fundraising effort, including:
21 parents/carers/staff running the Saucony London 10k in July. We had a great response to our idea and you can read more below
The children can do their own 10k across June and July. The Virtual 10k challenges children to run 25 laps of Run for Raglan over the 6 weeks. There will be a medal and value points for finishers. Details below
Finally, the RSA Summer Fair is back! Friday 27th June is the date for your diary and all proceeds will go towards the Library appeal.
An amazing 21 parents and staff have signed up to run the iconic route through central London on 13th July. As well as challenging themselves to run 10km they will be raising money for the RSA Library appeal. A huge thank you to the volunteer runners who are now busy preparing for the race. 8 weeks to go!

Parent and Carers taking part include: Francis Mannion, James Oliver, Tim Foley, Sarah & George Koutsoudes, Michelle Phillips, Wayne Borrough, Chrissie McGrath, Luca Marazzi, Dominic Burchnall, Becky Harvey, Sara Paras, Malcolm Landers, Terry Kafizas and Emily Bonnie. Not to be left out, this one is for the children who can enter a Virtual 10k in June and July.
Children also have the option to collect sponsors for their 10k, although this is optional. If they ask family and friends to sponsor their run, the money will go towards the Library Appeal.
For your child to take part, please visit the Arbor Shop and look for Raglan Virtual 10k. Once we see your purchase, we will give your child a collector's card and confirm this with a letter. The event starts on Monday 2nd June and ends on Thursday 10th July.
To get everyone in the spirit of joining our Raglan Virtual 10K, here's a celebration video for our inspirational Raglan Runners at the London Mini Marathon. Together they raised £900 for PE and Sport at Raglan.
Last week our Year 4 pupils enjoyed exploring our natural world during a two day and one night residential trip to The Hive in Loughton. During the the trip the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience and independence as they built shelters, studied woodland habitats, read maps, discovered hundreds of tad poles and handled snakes! Well done Year 4!
The Hive is part of our Residential programme, which prepares children for a longer PGL residential in Year 6. Some sporty pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a 3-day Sports Tour to Cardiff.
To support the work they have been doing in RE this half-term Year 5 visited the Bodhi Buddhist Temple in Bethnal Green. They got to speak with a Buddhist leader, visit a shrine and even had a go at meditating! The children enjoyed their insight to Buddhism and will be using what they learnt in the classroom.
As part of our RE unit about Islam, Year 2 had the pleasure of visiting Enfield Islamic Centre this term.
It was a great day filled with learning but also calm moments of reflection. The children were given the opportunity to learn more about the mosque and what people do there. They explored the mosque on a hunt for key features and were able to observe the call to prayer as well as prayer time.
The children showcased the fantastic knowledge they already had but also their inquisitive nature by asking really interesting and thoughtful questions.
On their journey through the curriculum, children at Raglan visit a range of places of worship to support their studies and understanding.
Last week, Year 3 visited the Excel Centre and immersed themselves in a world linked to the great Egyptian pharaoh, Tutankhamun. The children had a wonderful time participating in various activities, which included VR, observing real artefacts from the tomb, watching holograms, and watching a film in a 360-degree cinema room. The children were a credit to the school with great behaviour shown throughout the day. An amazing time and experience was had by all the children on a day and some wonderful memories were created.
A reminder that any treats sent into school should be completely free of nuts or manufactured in a factory that includes nuts.
21 parents and staff are preparing to run the London 10k raising money for our Library appeal. If you know of a company that would like to sponsor our runners, please get in touch. Sponsorship can cover some of the fees and t-shirts which could feature company names and logos. Contact sbm@raglanschools.org
We've had a positive start to our Fundraising drive for our new library. Over £1,500 has been pledged so far after the first week. We are aiming towards £15,000 by the end of term. As well as pledging on Just Giving, there will be other fundraising activities this term. 21 parents and staff will take on the Saucony London 10k run in July and pupils will have an opportunity to do their own Virtual 10k spread over the term. Details to follow.
We also have our Summer Fair coming up on Friday 27th June.
There is an RSA Coffee Morning on Friday 16th May to discuss the Summer Fair so if you would like to be involved please note the date!
Well done to the 90 children who took part in the London Mini Marathon. It was a great experience as children completed the final stages of the Marathon route. Our more experienced runners tackled the 2.6 miles in the morning events, and others did the one-mile run, some with a parent.
The children also raised money for school by taking part, with the Marathon giving £10 for each child who completed the course. The money will be spent on physical education.
Congratulations to Mrs Tungatt who completed the London Marathon on the Sunday which was a great achievement and an inspiration to us all.
Schools have joined forces to send the same message that smartphones are not to be brought to school. This drive is to support parents in deciding to hold off giving children a smartphone.
Raglan made this move several years ago so there is no change in policy for us. However there is a much stronger message and encouragement for parents to think carefully before giving their child a smartphone. You can read the letter here
Today we are launching a fundraising campaign so we can refurbish one of our spare classrooms to make a new library. At the moment, we have multiple areas spread across the school for easy access, but we are lacking that library experience, which is so important.
We have launched a Just Giving Page for direct donations, which is being hosted by the RSA. Gift aid is an option for anyone who is a taxpayer. Other RSA fundraising will also go towards the Library project, which includes the Summer Fair on 27th June. We are also assembling a team of 20 runners who are taking on the Saucony London 10k in July and there will be an opportunity for pupils to do a virtual 10k run in the next half term, further details to follow.
At the moment, we are considering several designs and we have shared some of the initial ideas above. The hope is we can have it installed during the Summer holiday, ready for the new academic year. As a school community, you have always been supportive. A good example has been the outdoor areas and playground developments that have come about through RSA support. We hope you share our ambitions for this project and lend us your support.
Clubs start next week. If you have yet to check Arbor for clubs, please do so as soon as possible and register for your allocated clubs. Please also pay any fees where applicable. If you no longer want the club(s) please email clubs@raglanschools.org so we can offer the places to other pupils on the waiting list.
Please note that the Junior French Club has been cancelled due to low numbers. It is important that clubs are financially viable when we use outside providers and this club did not meet the threshold.
In the week beginning 4th May, the sports team are on a residential visit with Year 4, so many of the school-led sports clubs are cancelled on these days. This includes
Tuesday 5th - Morning Movers, Cricket (Y56), Rounders (Y56)
Wednesday 6th - Morning Movers, Tag Rugby (Y56), Netball (Y56)
Thursday 7th - Girls' Football (Y12), Table Tennis (Y456), Athletics (Y456)

New trim trail for Year 3/4 and a Quiet seating area for Year 5/6. Thank you to everyone who supports the RSA events. Money raised over the past year has contributed to this new equipment.
The final stages of our playground development was completed over the break. New installations in the junior playgrounds were completed thanks to support from the RSA via fundraising and also the remaining funds from the sale of the site house.
As with all new equipment, there is much excitement, but this has to be managed safely so we avoid any unnecessary accidents. There are 240 pupils in the Year 3/4 playground and the new climbing net holds around 8 pupils. So we will rota this with the classes until the excitement calms down.
Children should not be on the equipment before or after school. The equipment does need adult supervision and we have to clear the playground quickly after school so the Wrap Club can use the playground from 3.30pm.
We have finalised our term dates for the next academic year.
As required, children attend school for 190 days and staff attend for 195 days. The five day difference forms our 5 training or INSET days.
The five INSET days are
Monday 1st September 2025
Friday 24th October 2025
Friday 19th December 2025
Friday 19th June 2026
Monday 20th July 2026
