(drop down for details)
I am applying for the role of School Governor as I am passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential, particularly those with additional needs. I am committed to ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and mental health challenges are supported in a way that enables them to feel safe, included, and ready to learn.
Through my work in the NHS, I collaborate closely with CAMHS professionals and multidisciplinary teams, developing a strong understanding of the complex emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs of children. This has deepened my awareness of how important early support, consistency, and inclusive approaches are within educational settings.
A key aspect of my role within a large NHS Trust Estates Directorate is improving the environments where care and support take place. I lead on engagement programmes that ensure service users influence how spaces are designed, maintained, and improved—focusing on accessibility, safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
I understand that physical environments have a direct impact on how children feel and behave; calm, welcoming, and inclusive spaces can significantly support learning, emotional regulation, and overall development.
I also have contributed to our current 5 year Trust strategy and Capital Development planning, helping to prioritise investment and improvements while balancing financial constraints. This experience gives me a strong appreciation of governance, decision-making, and long-term planning.
I would bring a child-focused perspective, a strong commitment to inclusion, and the ability to contribute constructively to strategic discussions, helping to ensure that the school environment supports every child to thrive.
I am putting myself forward as a Parent Governor because I want to give back to the school community and help ensure that every child is supported to reach their full potential.
As a father of three children who attended Raglan School, I have been a proud member of the Raglan community for the past 14 years. Professionally, I have worked in the private SEN sector for over 17 years and currently serve as a Head of Centre for Post-16 Provision. I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology and Informatics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Banking.
My professional experience has equipped me with strong skills in strategic planning, budgeting, data analysis, leadership, and safeguarding. I would welcome the opportunity to use these skills to support Raglan School’s continued success and development.
I am passionate about inclusive education and committed to promoting student well-being and high standards for all children, regardless of their background or additional needs. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with young people with SEND and their families, helping to create opportunities that enable them to thrive.
With your support, I would be honoured to contribute to the future of the school and welcome the opportunity to help create an even brighter future for all our children.
I would be delighted to serve as a Parent Governor at Raglan and contribute to a school community that means a lot to my family. My daughter is currently in Year 1 and my son will be joining the school next year.
I have spent the last 15 years working as an Actuary, using maths to solve real-life problems. My role involves managing risk and helping organisations make important decisions. A key part of my work is asking questions, challenging decisions, and making sure different perspectives are properly considered. These are the same skills I would bring as a governor when supporting and questioning school decisions. I believe my experience outside of education would allow me to offer a different perspective to discussions.
Alongside my professional career, I volunteer with Maths 4 Girls, an education charity that encourages girls to continue studying maths. Through this work, I have seen the opportunities education can create, as well as barriers that can stand in the way. This has helped me understand the importance of the right support and encouragement in education, which I would bring to discussions as a parent governor.
I would bring a thoughtful and compassionate approach to the role. I care about education, value the strong sense of community at Raglan, and would be proud to support the school in this role.
