Book Amnesty

Please could you check at home for school books. We have a lot of books missing and these are mostly Accelerated Reader stock. Replenishing book stock is very costly so please have a look and see if you have any of our books hiding at home. Please return via your child or drop them into the office. Many thanks.

Book Donations

Huge thanks to several parents who have recently donated quality books to school. Some donations have even been brand new and we are very grateful. If you are thinking of having a bit of a bookshelf clear out before Christmas, please remember us!

We are selling poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We also have some other items (key ring reflectors, bracelets, etc) on sale for the appeal at 50p and £1, which will be available to Junior pupils, sold by Year 6.

Individual School Photos

If you wish to order a school photo please ensure any orders are given to the office by Friday 17th November.  Any order after this date will have to be sent direct to the photographer.

Children in Need - Friday 17th November 2017

We will be having a dress down day and 20p fete on Friday 17th November to raise money for Children in Need. If children come to school in their own clothes they need to bring a donation of £1. We will also be running a 20p fete. This will take place in the hall on Friday afternoon and the children will be able to spend their 20ps on a variety of different stalls run by each class. Please send your child to school on Friday 17th November with some 20ps to spend them at the fete.

School Trips

We are receiving less and less money for our school trips/workshops.  Whilst we realise this is a voluntary payment, unfortunately the school is unable to cover the cost of these educational visits, therefore we may have to look at cancelling any future plans.

Lunchtime Maths club

In the upcoming weeks, we will be starting and running a lunchtime Maths club which will be run by the children and supervised by staff. For this, we are kindly asking if any of the following games could be donated to the school:  Cluedo and Cluedo Jr, Yahtzee, Backgammon, Connect 4, Rummikub, Frustration, Monopoly, Monopoly Empire, Draughts or Chess, Mastermind

Pupil information Sheets

Thank you to everyone that has returned the pupil data sheets that were given to you at parents consultations.  If you still have one at home please return it to the office as soon as possible. Please remember there MUST be 3 emergency contacts for each child.

Zig-Zag Restrictions

A reminder that the zig-zag lines are outside the school to stop people parking between 8.15 and 9.15am, 11.30am and 1.30pm and 2.45 to 4.00pm.   Please do not stop on them even to drop your children off, it is dangerous to your child, other pedestrians and other drivers.

Online Safety Day

On Monday 20th November we will be having an Online Safety Day. Pupils will have workshops at an age appropriate level regarding staying safe online. The staff are also having training on this day and there is a workshop for parents between 9am-10am or 5pm and 6pm on this day.

I would urge you to attend one of the workshops as it is clear that growing up in a digital age is becoming more and more challenging for young people. Each year we have more and more incidents between pupils that occur online out of school, often mean messages or inappropriate language in a group chat. Whilst it is clear children can use the technology, many do not possess the social and emotional skills to deal with the online world.

The workshop for parents is 60 minutes and will provide the latest information on keeping children safe online. If you would like to attend, please complete this form. Raglan pupils can be dropped off to the Wrap Club for the 5pm-6pm session, free of charge. Please note the workshop is for parents.

RSA News

Wednesday, 8th November at 7:30pm is the next date for the RSA Committee Meeting.  All are welcome.  Main topic of discussion will be the Christmas Fair.  We will be meeting at The Living Room, 105 St Marks Road, EN1 1BJ.

Remember the Christmas Fair is on Saturday, 9th December.  It is beginning to take shape with lots of great stalls, Santa's grotto, crafts, games etc.

The RSA are working with the school to create printed tea towels of self portraits of all the children in each year group in the lead up to Christmas.  They make fantastic Christmas gifts!  More information on how to order will be coming shortly....
