Curriculum Evening
Thank you to the parents who attended the Curriculum evening last night it was great to see so many of you taking some time to find out more. The presentation slides from each of the workshops are being uploaded to the Curriculum Evening Webpage so do check there. If you attended we would welcome your feedback here.
Meet the Teacher
We will be holding our next two evenings on Wednesday 7th February and Thursday 8th February. We are opening the booking website www.meettheteacher.org.uk on Friday 26th January to book online. You will receive further information about how to book. Alternatively you can call in to the office between 8.30-9am from Friday morning to use the Chromebooks to book. Assistance will be available.
Lunches
Over the course of the week the School Lunch Menu is balanced by a nutritionist to ensure it meets the national expectations. Similarly children who have a packed lunch should aim to have a balanced menu across the week. For further advice on keeping packed lunches healthy, visit the Healthier Lunchbox website, which is part of the Change 4 Life campaign. We have noticed in our rubbish bins (yes we do look!) some elements of packed lunches are being thrown away. To keep an eye on this we will be reminding pupils that only messy items (yoghurts etc) will be allowed to be put in our bins. This means you can see what your child has eaten when they return home.
School Visits
We have a range of visits each year where there is a clear link to the curriculum. We chose trips and workshops that will enhance the curriculum. Unfortunately this comes at a cost beyond the limits of the school budget. We do rely on voluntary contributions from parents in order for these trips to take place. Unfortunately some activities may not go ahead if insufficient monies are collected. We have recently had a Year 1 trip and a Year 2 workshop where we have received insufficient funds. If you have not paid a contribution for either of these, we would be very grateful if you could. Similarly we have a Year 4 trip in February and we are struggling to get enough money for this to go ahead. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
After School Clubs
After School clubs are now up and running please pay for your child’s club online via Parentpay, or ask the office for a barcode letter. Clubs need to be paid for by Friday 26th January. If your child no longer wants to attend a club please let the office know asap. We have a waiting list for most clubs. Parents/care must not stay on the school premises whilst waiting for the clubs to finish.
Wrap Club
Invoices for the Wrap Club will be sent out shorty. Please pay online via Parentpay or ask the office for a barcode letter. If you have any queries please contact wrap@raglanschools.org. If you have already received a booking confirmation letter confirming payment details, please pay as soon as possible. A reminder that children must be collected promptly by 6.00pm any late collections have be arranged beforehand and must be no later than 6.15pm. To contact wrap club during wrap hours please call 07841 455439.
School Uniform
We are a uniform-wearing school. Please ensure children come to school wearing appropriate school shoes, not trainers or boots. Children should also not be wearing nail varnish, please ensure it is taken off before coming to school. Thank you for your continued support.
February Half Term Holiday Camp
Leslieess will be running a holiday camp during the February half term. More information will be sent out soon, but for more information please visit www.leslieessltd.co.uk or telephone 07960 086 406.
School Keep Clear markings
School Keep Clear markings help prevent vehicles from parking in front of school entrances. It is an offence to park or wait on these markings during the times shown on the sign (08.15 to 09.15, 1130 to 13.30 and 14.45 to 16.00). Please call Enfield Council on 0208 379 1000 to report a parking violation
You can help improve safety around schools by:
-
leaving early from home if you need to park at school
-
making sure that children only get in or out of the vehicle on the pavement side
-
not parking close to the road markings
-
not double parking outside of the school
-
parking further away and walking if there is congestion near the school
-
walking to school
Lunchtime Maths club
In the upcoming weeks, we will be starting and running a lunchtime Maths club which will be run by the children and supervised by the adults. For this, we are kindly asking if any of the following games could be donated to the school: Cluedo and Cluedo Jr, Yahtzee, Backgammon, Connect 4, Rummikub, Frustration, Monopoly, Monopoly Empire, Draughts or Chess and Mastermind.

CO-OP Local Community Fund
We have been selected for the Co-op Local Community Fund this year! We applied for funds to help build an outdoor classroom. It runs until the end of October 2018. How it works - Every time members shop at the Co-op, 1% of what they spend on selected own-brand products and services goes to the Co-op Local Community Fund. They will also give us and the other causes in our community an equal share of the money they raise from sales of carrier bags. Our cause is linked to TWO stores, one in Bush Hill Park and the other is on Lancaster Road and also the funeral care services. If you already have a Co-op membership card, please go to the following website and register Raglan Schools Association as your chosen charity. https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/14008/ If you don't have a card - you can become a member easily by requesting a card at the shop and paying £1. Then you would follow the process above to link to the RSA. This is a fantastic opportunity so please help us raise as much as we can.

Boots Exchange
If your child needs a pair of astroturf, moulded or studded boots, they can grab a pair for free in the Yr5/6 playground every Friday afternoon. Thank you so much to everyone that has donated a pair already. If you have any boots that no longer fit your children, we would be very grateful for any donations.
