New KS1 Play Area OPENS

New Play Area

On Monday we officially opened the new play area of the Key Stage 1 playground. This area was previously a disused allotment that had seen better days and was transformed over the holidays. The area includes

  • Trim Trail
  • Bouldering Wall
  • Seating area
  • Story Area

The area was designed by Infinite Playgrounds who also completed the other phases of our outdoor development including the new Nursery, Field developments and Reception area.

The project cost around £30,000 and was partly funded (£10,000) by the Healthy Capital Grant, which came from the Department for Education. The grant was sent to all schools, which was generated from a tax on sugary drinks and products.

There remains one element to complete, which are some seats to go around the two trees. We hope this will be completed soon!

The children were very excited and we had a special outdoor assembly to officially open the area. There will be a rota to start with as we expect it to be very popular over the first few weeks.

Note for Parents - This area requires ADULT SUPERVISION, so whilst we are happy for children to use it before and after school, you must supervise them carefully.
