Pupils visit Council Chambers

Year 5 Local Democracy in Action

The Year 5 children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Civic Centre Council Chambers this morning, where they got to emulate councillors by engaging in a debate chaired by the Mayor of Enfield. Aside from the Mayor, the children met the Deputy Youth Mayor, Councillor James Hockney and the Mayor's mace-bearer. It was great to see the level of engagement and the impressive quality of questions that the children asked. The Mayor also praised the quality input and the points raised by our children in the debate.

Prior to the visit, the children were visited by Councillors James Hockney and Claire De Silva to talk about the role of a local councillor. The children had many questions about what it was like to be a councillor.
